God’s Not Responsible for It

God’s Not Responsible for It By Adam Becker

Life  has a lot of blessings in it and many good things can happen to us. We  like to take credit for the good or give credit to God when we are  blessed. But what about when we aren’t blessed? Like when the opposite  happens. The times when things are taken from us, or trouble comes. Or  the frustrating moments when our plans are blocked or fail. Who is  responsible for that?

I will be  honest; I have been there. I have had a lot of bad stuff happen to me  and it seems like a constant occurrence that my plans are blocked or  fail. I have gotten used to things being taken from me in life. And used  to troubles coming my way. As a result, I got upset and blamed God a  lot. After all, He is God and can control anything, He pleases. If He  wants something to happen, He can make it happen. I knew that Satan had  some power also, but I knew God to be stronger. I figured and knew  according to scripture that Satan can’t do anything unless God allows  it. So, I couldn’t bring myself to blame the devil or anyone else. Nope,  the blame was to fall on an all-powerful mighty God.

But  then in the midst of my troubles, I could see God blessing me and God  trying to show me love. I could see God trying to comfort me and make it  better. God did things to make it better. I realized that God may not  have been behind the bad. I realized God wanted the best for me. God  loved me. The truth is things happen in this world that aren’t God’s  doing. God is not behind everything. He could be if He wanted to, but He  left us to tend to this world and there is also evil in this world. God  lets things happen to us because we are free. We have free will and we  live on a fallen imperfect earth. Sure, God works things for good but  that doesn’t guarantee that bad won’t happen to us.

In the Bible we can see that;

Luke 13: 1-2

Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices.

Jesus  answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than  all the other Galileans because they suffered this way?

In  this account, some Galilieans were killed. Jesus basically said they  weren’t killed as punishment by God. It is just something that happened  as a result of evil in this world or other people. Sometimes in the  Bible God did bring something bad on people but not always.

The Bible also says,

John 10:10

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came so that they would have life, and have it abundantly.

The  thief Jesus is referring to is Satan, His plans are to take from you  and destroy your life. He may actually be behind some of your problems.  But Jesus isn’t, His plans are to give you an abundant life.

God also said,

Jer 29:11

For  I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper  you andnot to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

That  is God’s heart, He wants to do good to you, and He wants things to work  for you. God didn’t take from you, the world did. Get that down and  remember that the next time things go south. Don’t blame God put the  blame where it belongs on evil and the world. You will be glad you did.
